Apres Ski

Apres Ski

March 2-4th, 2014
This was a weekend that had been planned at Christmas time. Caroline and Katherine planned the weekend and bought ski tickets for all of us. We went up to Newfound Lake and skied at Ragged. It was a wonderful time, although not quite as we had planned. We know how those best laid plans go, regardless we were together and had a fabulous time.
We arrived on Friday night: Kyle from Alabama and Katherine from Portland. Saturday morning we planned to ski early to get some of the first runs in. Unfortunately Joe was not feeling well so he stayed home and Caroline is pregnant so she wasn’t skiing. The rest of us headed out to the Mt.
Although the weather was cold, the sun was out. I believe it was 8 or 9 degrees. We actually had some great runs. I had been a bit nervous becasue last year the skiing wasnt good, and the year before I had had my transplant, so I had not skiied for a few years. I was damned and determined 🙂 I had to see how I would do. I was actually proud of myself.. kind of like riding a bike 🙂
Around lunch time, I see my little darling all bundled up with her mommy coming to bring us lunch. Liela had her little skis that Papa and Sittee bought her for Christmas. Caroline put the skis on her and she just cruised, poles in hand, easy as pie. She was well balanced and loved it.
We kept her on the flat surface until Papa skied down the hill with her between his legs! Oh she loved that and was so excited. “More Papa” She was so excited about that. We had a great morning, and afternoon until Auntie Grace took a spill. We met up in the lodge, and Caroline assessed the situation and sent her to the ED.
We headed home from the mountain, did a little après ski, and waited for Steve and Grace to return. She ended up with bad bruises, thank goodness. We all had a great dinner, and did what we always do,watch and talk and play with Liela! LOL
Another great family weekend! xo
